Menes of Memphis

King Menes, also named Narmer, established the 1st dynasty. In the following 400 years he and his successors united Upper and Lower Egypt and erected the capital Memphis. They wrung from new lands from the dessert and had tremendous graves (Mastaba) built for their after life. Menes was the first King of Egyptian to wear the double crown, the symbol of the united countries. Power and prosperity arrived. First hieroglyphics are found on slate chalkboards, which Menes ordered to manifest his victories.
