The market for art and cultural work, like many others, is a generic market. A great deal is offered under the same conditions, but very little is sold. It does not involve goods/services for everyday life which appear vital to satisfy basic human needs. Contemporary art and many interesting cultural projects are often far removed from practical utility and for that reason cannot continue for long, if they get off the ground at all.
